FLOWERS FOR AN OLD SHRINE
“Light cracks and chemical abrasions on a celluloid wandering. Each immutable essence disintegrates with every frame, slowly waning into no-selfhood. The old man and the old woman wilt in the candlelight."
Long Pham is an artist and experimental filmmaker originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, currently based in Syracuse, New York. Their work is deeply guided by a Marxist dialectical approach and informed by anecdotal experiences as a first-generation immigrant. Through the broad medium of moving images, they explore the confluences of micro- and macros-aces with colonial histories, the transfiguration of form, and the phenomenology of the screen.
